Just like that, Karl the Fog has taken off for the holidays and the city is warm(ish) once again.
While the sun has returned, the people have left, and San Francisco is a bit of a ghost town as residents head home for the holidays. It’s a little eery, but it’s also become a time to explore sans tourists and have some serious R&R time.
R&R to me is more like a reestablishment of my role in SF. As of late, there’s been a frustrating whiff of displacement in the air that has been singling me out and away from what I thought I loved. To realize that it’s okay to be here – at least for the time being – it sometimes means that everyone has to get of here – for the time being. So in the quieted city, I remember that I’m here doing (and eating!) the things I love.
Rest & Rediscovery.
