Now that my race is over, it’s time for a marathon of new (and more delicious) sorts—Outside Lands!
Outside Lands consistently delivers the best food experience out of any festival I’ve been to. I attribute this to the fact that while San Francisco is home to some of the best food as it is, it’s also home to a shifty little fog known as Karl. That means that this ain’t Coachella; it’s COLD here, and we need all the calories we can get to sustain ourselves between music acts and bathroom lines.
This year’s food lineup (and the more important lineup IMO) is top notch as always, with a few new restaurants in the rotation. Whether you’re going all three days or venturing to Golden Gate Park for one day, arrive early and feast on the best of what Outside Lands has to offer:
Porcini Doughnuts with Raclette Cheese | Rich Table { This is a staple at OSL and a worthy one. You get to experience one of the best restaurants in SF for a fraction of a cost. Plus, raclette is warm and gooey cheese and how can you go wrong with that. }
Salumia & Margherita Pizzas | Mozzeria { Be gone stale pizza and say hey to these high-quality slices, new to OSL this year from Mozzeria. }
Classic Grilled Cheese | The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen { Pair it with tomato soup and you have the ultimate comfort food late-afternoon snack when you have an hour to kill before J. Cole comes on. }
Mozzarella Sticks | Merigan Sub Shop { Are you sensing a theme with melted cheese here? Good, because it’s the best. }
Ramenburger | Nombe { Another usual at OSL, and still one of the best burgers out there. }
Hot Chocolate | Candybar | Chocolands { It gets annoyingly cold at night, and when you’re lost in the forest trying to find Sutro Stage, hot chocolate will guide you, or at least keep you warm. }
Beignets & Bounce Brunch | Big Freedia and Brenda’s Soul Food { This is always my favorite act on Saturday—busting out your finest dance moves with in exchange for warm beignets. Get yourself to the GastroMagic stage and you won’t be disappointed. }
Lobster Rolls | Woodhouse Fish Co. { In case you don’t get to check out Outside Clams, you can still grab one of these sandos to walk around with as you explore. }
Any Ramen | Itani Ramen { New this year, Itani has some delicious noodles to slurp on as you sit on the grass and wonder why ramen at festival isn’t always a thing. }
Cheeselands { If I have to tell you why to come here, you’re already not doing this right. }
