It’s no secret that we’ve got some amazing wines in California. But it’s not often that we get to sample wines from all the various regions at once. Ghirardelli Square’s Uncorked Wine Festival aimed to cover that base; and by the end of Saturday afternoon, I walked away with a much better grasp of what wine country has to offer.
Even with the rain, the annual event brought out locals and tourists alike to try wine, enjoy food trucks, and contribute to Bay Area Green Tours, a non-profit organization. It was a blast sampling wine with unique names like “Hero” and “Wrath” and learning about vineyards not only in Napa and Sonoma, but in Russian River and as far south as Paso Robles.
Uncorked Wine Festival is a testament to the diversity of wine in California and how fortunate we are to be able to have such delicious varietals at our fingertips. I’m excited for future road trips to the participating vineyards and can’t wait to attend next year!
