It’s been a hectic few weekends with having two sets of visitors and traveling to four new cities, the latest of which is Santa Barbara – which I never get tired of.
It’s also been a hectic time with laying down the foundations for Shikha la Mode, the business. As I mentioned a few posts back, I am in the process of starting my own dessert venture via an online shop that will be available to the public next week (!). In the meanwhile, I’ve been working on a million things that I am hoping will somehow come together in time.
Part of my business process has been talking to other local entrepreneurs for guidance and story exchanges. A city like San Francisco has an extremely saturated food market, but surprisingly, it also encourages the independent spirit and a sense of solidarity between young professionals following their passions. Each of the people I meet gives me new perspective and inspires me to not give up.
I have had to make a couple decisions regarding time management and how I want to accomplish everything I have set out to do. Unfortunately, that means I will have to scale back my posts on the blog as I get the business in place.
What does that mean? For now, not a whole lot. I won’t be posting that often and when I do, they will revolve more around my personal process and looking to readers for suggestions on how to improve x, y, and z. The number of recipes I post will decrease as I continue to play around with recipes I want to incorporate into the online shop.
What will increase will be my spotlights on the local food entrepreneur scene. I have always thought that is a lack of knowledge share in the food business, especially when it comes to starting your own without going bankrupt or going insane. Each businessperson I talk to has amazing things to say about their ventures and I want to share their ideas and advice with you.
It’s weird to have everything slowly fall in place but also exciting. Luckily, I have so many fantastic peepz in so many cities that are supportive. And busy or not, I’m still taking time for mini adventures, like my recent ones in Santa Barbara that I get to write about!
(Almost) open for business.
