Being in and from the Bay, I am all about repping that local pride. This place is full of diverse people with unique ideas that it’s difficult, and oftentimes futile, to search elsewhere for anything better.
In line with this mentality is Maricela Yee, the founder of Little Shop Artisan Box. Her delicious boxes feature a fantastic array of culinary charms from small batch artisans all over the San Francisco Bay Area. The items change seasonally and look awesome as much as they taste good. Her last box featured a certain mustachioed candy that had me Movembering for more!
In her own words:
Hello! I am the founder of Little Shop Artisan Box. I have always embraced the unhurried lifestyle of my upbringing in Hawaii, but in spring 2011 I decided to pack-up and glimpse a new coastal horizon. I landed in Oakland, California to enjoy the pleasures of the Bay Area: the food, the seasons, and the curious culture.
I have a great fondness for food and sharing probably because of my family values. One of my favorite things to do growing up was go to Chinatown with my Grandma and buy the freshest noodles from an unassuming shop. I love finding those hidden gems in all those unusual corners like eating street food, or at food trucks, or at the mom and pop shops and I understand the importance of supporting the local slow foods movement. I was inspired by the values behind and benefits of a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Box. In September 2011, I decided to start Little Shop Artisan Box. This allows me to combine my two loves of food and sharing while presenting the culinary delights of the Bay Areas most creative artisans.
Maricela has been kind enough to do a GIVEAWAY with SLM to give one of you lucky readers a chance to take home a small Holiday Foodie Box! The box features the following:

What a great collection of foods! I’ve never seen pickled persimmons before and that bacon caramel corn sounds amazing!

I like the Holiday Flavored Chocolate Truffles items in the box.

This is awesomeeeee! Man, the caramel corn would take my vote if only I could eat bacon. So rocky road it is 🙂
Peter says
Bacon caramel corn? I’d eat it.
Jackie Le says
Persimmons remind me of my dad and how expertly he would peel the persimmons, never wasting nor smushing the soft, fragile fruit (like I do when I try to peel them today). He’s a craftsman and has always been good with his hands, and our dessert every night for dinner while growing up would be a piece of fruit. That nostalgia and my obsession with pickles makes the pickled persimmons the food item that I am most intrigued by! I read the website and I didn’t realize that the artisans actually use fresh produce for pickling; I always thought pickled was like a stew; make the most of rotten/on-the-verge-of-going-bad fruit & veggies!

I am totally eyeing that giant bag of bacon caramel popcorn and how I wish I was snacking on that at my work desk right now. Mmmm….

Tie vote for me: the holiday truffles and the bacon Carmel corn both sound really tasty and unique. I’d love to try any of it, but those are most intriguing!!

So many companies like this are opening up now. It’s nice how they do all the work for you and curate collections of the best products around. A perfect way to do some holiday gift shopping, too.
Maricela Yee, LSAB says
Thanks, Carolyn! There are a few other companies like this, but we are proudly unique because we only feature small batch artisans in the Bay Area. We heart the Bay and want to make sure to keep the money local. We’d love to make your holiday shopping easier this year. Let me know how I can help.
