It’s been an unusually rainy February, which has made me want to do little else than curl up in a blanket every weekend and binge-watch the new season of Chef’s Table (disclaimer: it is amazing). But of course, there is still food to be had. And so I’m sharing a list of my favorite spots from this past month that I recommend you eat at when you get the chance, rainy day or not. Some are new to the scene, others are offering up more than what they have before, and some are tried and true classics that I (and you) need at all times to keep us caffeinated and warm our souls. In no particular order:
Craftsman & Wolves in Pac Heights { People forget about this location, but it’s just as good as the Mission spot. My recent favorite pastry—the chocolate muffin }
Humphry Slocombe { Ice cream does not care about rain, and neither should you. Visit the Ferry Building spot for a scoop—I loved their red bean flavor for Chinese New Year }
The Saratoga { This cool cocktail spot is new to the scene, and they have delicious twists on desserts as well. Grab a whiskey and a housemade ho-ho }
Hog and Rocks { Dollar oysters for happy hour ON THE WEEKENDS TOO }
Jane on Fillmore { If you want to keep your resolutions strong, get the smoothie or quinoa bowl from Jane and all your needs will be met }
Blue Bottle { The lines are actually short for once due to the rain. Even if they were long, I’d still wait for a warm waffle }
Hotel Zeppelin { I have no idea how they configured this arching alcohol shelf, but it’s amazing and it’s keeping me coming back }
Más Masa in Fairfax { The next time you venture to Point Reyes, end your outdoorsiness here and get a blue corn anything and a chicha morada to drink }
Verve Coffee { Finally they have opened on Market and 14th! It’s also convenient a couple blocks from my apartment, so I’ll be having this chia pudding all the time }
Tartine Manufactory { Have you gone for dinner yet and had the lamb ribs with ducca yogurt? No? Okay, go }
Hillside Supper Club { This brunch spot with Korean flare is perfect hangover food. Get the kimchi fried rice or if you’re feeling more adventurous, the fish cake with daikon and truffle }
