Part of making 2015 epic means going back to what makes me who I am and splattering that loudly across the city. It’s far too easy to take ourselves for granted, and so taking time to appreciate our own quirks and abilities is just as important as appreciating everything else.
On Friday, I took two of my besties, Aimee and Courtney, back to where it all began – dinner at my childhood house with a home-cooked Indian meal by mom. After 6 dishes and countless jokes over all the Johnny Depp posters I own(ed), there was little else left to do but sleep!
In the spirit of food and all things local, I attended a food startup bootcamp on Saturday hosted by Local Food Lab, an incubator that aids in building better food systems. It was inspiring to hear everyone’s ideas on how to improve the way we eat and got my mind on the grind on how to make this blog and the Shikha la Mode shop better in 2015.
With two Smitten ice cream trips thrown in for good measure and a trove full of ideas, this was a good weekend to be Shikha la mode. Sometimes, I get nervous over taking risks over something that has no guarantee, but then again, sometimes I just have to nom hard and realize that if not now, here, in San Francisco, then when?
Start before you’re ready.
