Well, I’ve somehow made it through the first half of 2015 in relatively one piece – a little frayed, awkwardly tanned, danced to exhaustion, and full beyond means. From traveling to eating to late, late nights, I’ve already been lucky to experience so much and am excited and nervous for the second half of the year. If these first six months brought the return of foie gras, the slow demise of restaurant tipping, and the onset of Japanese sensibility to cuisine in the Bay Area, who knows what will happen next?
Before kicking off July, here are some favorite eats and drinks I’ve had while running (or swimming!) around. I’d like to think that every time I find somewhere new to fall in love with it, it makes this blog so much more fun to write – SF is full of surprises that I get to share with you!
“The universe is made of stories, not of atoms.”
While I’ll never grow tired of my Mission staple, Craftsman & Wolves, I love trying new(ish) spots too, like the recently opened Jane on Larkin. When in doubt, the kouign aman is the way to go.
Double scoops of Bi Rite make me insanely happy. So does realizing that Loving Cup has a concoction called the Dirty Hipster, and when you add caramel to it, it’s in or around my mouth please.
Someone asked me if all I do is take cooking classes and honestly, I WISH I could. From burrata making to butter making, it’s a blast cooking the fundamentals of every great chef.
It’s finally summer! Or our SF version of it. Either way, I’m dying over roasted peaches, outdoor wine and cheese, and patio beers with some favorites. Let’s keep the good vibes going straight through the rest of the year!
