Top 10 Things to Eat at Outside Lands 2014

osl

Kanye, Imma let you finish, but have you seen the Outside Lands food lineup this year? Not only are there over 60 local establishments participating, there is a Wine Lands, Beer Lands, Chocolands, CHEESE Lands, and an entirely new stage focused solely on food and drink called GastroMagic. Kanye may have all of the lights, but I want all of the food.

In lieu of this 3-day music festival that is about to sweep the city of San Francisco like Karl the Fog on a good day, I present to you my list of the top 10 things to try (in no particular order) while you search for Kim Kardashian in the crowds:

(1) Beignets at GastroMagic:
On Saturday, the bounce rap legend Big Freedia will be performing. Audience members who “answer her call to twerk will be awarded with beignets.” Y’all know where to find me.

gordita

(2 ) Gordita from El Huarache Loco:
I had this last year and found it a great way to get in some quality Mexican food without eating a pound of cheese – not that there’s anything wrong with that, but save it for Cheese Lands.

(3) Gilroy Mac and Cheese from Homeroom:
I’ve been going to this Oakland restaurant since college and am convinced that a better bowl of mac doesn’t exist anywhere else.

(4) Cotton Candy from Sugar and Spun:
The guys behind Frozen Kuhsterd spin the goods live in front of you for a tasty treat.

(5) Ice Cream from Humphry Slocombe:
These ice cream masters have created a special flavor just for Outside Lands, so this is a must-have.

(6) Cheeseburger from 4505 Meats:
I’ve been a slave to their veggie grits sandwich, so you can only imagine what kinds of meats they’re slinging.

(7) New Orleans Style Coffee from Blue Bottle:
Because caffeination is delicious.

curry

(8) Deconstructed Samosa from Curry Up Now:
The truck makes its OSL debut this year, which is surprising given how popular their Indian fusion food is (or maybe that’s just me because I eat there once a week).

(9) Pastrami Sandwich from Wise Sons Deli:
A sandwich is the ultimate portable food, so grab one as you run from Lands End to Twin Peaks to get a good spot for Macklemore.

(10) Waffles from Suite Foods:
There are savory waffles as well so you don’t feel bad about eating breakfast for dinner.

I’ve created my musician schedule here – if your interests overlap, reach out and let’s touch the sky.

Yeezus take the wheel.
