SLM: One Month Recap

SLM

Hey cool guys! It’s officially been one month since the launch of Shikha la Mode, the business, so I thought I’d share some updates for you as well as a NEW PRODUCT available as of today.

There is also an SLM Customer Feedback Survey that would be amazing if you filled it out. There are incentives, so read on to find out more and check out the survey here.

Even though it’s only been one month, I’m learning quickly (and sometimes the hard way) how much work it really is to be a one-woman machine. I do everything from cook, to set prices, to fulfill shipments, to advertise, to delivery, to network. Some things come easy – cooking and networking are skills I’ve had for awhile. Others are a whole new world where I am constantly asking questions and second-guessing myself. It’s a continuous process of wandering around local stores looking at packaging and pricing and reaching out to experienced small business owners for advice.

Although San Francisco is a saturated market, it’s an extremely collaborative one, and with the rise of the sharing economy, everyone is willing to help each other out in the name of progress and passion. Via said collaborations, I’ve been able to cater my first breakfast (for Indiegogo), launch a new product (granola!) and secure a pop-up space a certain tech giant’s offices in July.

There are a lot, a LOT, of moving parts that I want to somehow connect into a grand scheme that is Shikha la Mode. That takes time. I am not a patient person and even worse, I hate uncertainty with things (and people) that I care deeply about, so this is a new arena for me. I have a notebook where I am constantly writing down ideas, recipe ideas, and people to talk to, along with an extensive spreadsheet of what I should be working on at any given time. Organization is becoming more key than ever.

But with the stress comes exciting new developments and a knowledge that this is going somewhere, even though I’m not quite sure where quite yet. That’s where YOU come in!

Take a minute and fill out the SLM Customer Feedback Survey – I want to hear from you cool guys about what’s making your dessert clock tick. All responses are anonymous – it’s for feedback purposes only!

As a thank you for completing the survey you will get a FREE order of my newest flavor of granola with your next SLM purchase – just write “SLMSurvey” in the Notes section of your next purchase through the Square market and a free bag will be on its way. Yep, freezy weezy, cus I love y’all.

Check out the survey here.

My newest thing – Coconut-Pistachio Granola – is hanging out with rolled oats, coconut oil, pistachios, coconut flakes, cinnamon, and organic wild blueberries. I keep eating it all myself, so get some for yourself!

Nom on!

I’m a potential customer, my dear. Unfortunately, I’m too far from San Francisco! I would love to taste your delicacies and have breakfast with your coconut granola!

How far are you? Everything ships cross-country, so as long as you are in the USA you should try some!
