Noe Valley keeps getting better, this time with a new addition to the SF brunch scene—Portugese-inspired Uma Casa on the corner of Church and 27th and the subject of today’s review.
Portugese food is a lot of seafood. Luckily, California boasts some great seafood, making these dishes at Uma Casa pretty delicious. My favorite mariscos were the salada de atum (raw tuna salad), and the salada de mariscos, which was packed with shrimp, octopus, squid, mussels, garbanzo beans, and a special Portugese sauce.
The most taste of the entrees was one that looked the most unassuming—ovos com linguica. It comprises of eggs over easy, potatoes, toast, and housemade Portugese sausage, which had the most beautiful char on the outside for a crunchy-flavorful bite. I could have eaten that sausage and nothing else and been satisfied for brunch, but of course, who just eats one thing for brunch?
I’m excited to come back for dinner, and even more excited for the rising diversity of brunch cuisine in the city. Check out Uma Casa for your next weekend meal.
