Rooftop bars are FINALLY HERE in San Francisco and I’m SO HAPPY. We have finally been blessed with a rooftop bar that gives us what we need (good food, good drinks, and sunshine) with the SF vibe to match. Let’s talk about Rooftop 25.
In case you haven’t guessed, Rooftop 25 is the rooftop of 25 Lusk. It’s a project that’s taken years to come to fruition, as Nathan, the general manager, explains. So every piece of it has thought and finesse to make sure it fits together flawlessly.
Since it’s close to AT&T park and will probably get a good amount of foot traffic, it’s a fast casual concept. Order food and drinks at the bar and find a table. During the day, shades balance the sun; at night, heat lamps and blankets remind you that you’re still in SF.
First off: The drinks. There are frozen cocktails, like the John Daly, and classic twists, like the Passionfruit Margarita. I tried literally everything on the menu, and everything was refreshing and unique, which is rare to find.
The food follows suit. I also ate the entire menu (one of those days), and found some easy favorites: Roasted oysters with yuzu butter + cucumber salsa make for a great starter; arugula pizza brings just the right amount of heat; the bone marrow comes piled with greens for a nice balance (also BONE MARROW); and the brownies with mint ice cream made me love mint all over again and lightened the intensity of a brownie, making it a great summer dessert.
I’ve already been back twice since the bar opened, and I know I’ll be back many more times. Summer is here, and Rooftop 25 is calling.
