The first time I drank rosé forREAL was this past summer when I visited the Provence area in France. There, I learned how real #roséallday was as a lifestyle, and with good reason! Provence is the OG of rosé production.
89 percent of the region is devoted to making rosé; France alone accounts for a third of the world’s rosé. In the past few years, demand has taken off in the US, who now drinks 13% of the world’s rosé.
I’ve been stoked to find that I can have this back in the states through the Wines of Provence directory. It’s full of information about the grapes, the region, what to drink, and when to drink it—typically in the summer time and with friends.
It makes sense, but I’ve been itching to find ways to incorporate it into other parts of my life, which include a vast array of cuisines and cultures. I’d read that rosé pairs well with spicy food, so when my mom threw her Diwali (Indian New Year) party last week, I decided to take it for a spin and brought over some bottles to try.
As you can see from the photos, the wines were a hit! We spent the night sipping away while eating loads of Indian food. Staying true to the rules of rosé, I was surrounding by friends and family, but I also got to surprise them with a new way to drink it.
We are only getting started in the world of rosé, and I’m excited to see how it shows up in our lives. I don’t know when I’ll visit Provence again, so in the meantime, I know I’ll always have a few bottles of rosé close by because #roséallday.
