It’s the week before Labor Day and you know what that means—EVERYONE IS AT BURNING MAN.
And you know what that also means—ALL THE GOOD RESTAURANTS WILL HAVE NO LESS WAIT.
I didn’t make it to the playa this year and am feeling the fomo hardcore, but I also feel calm in knowing that it wasn’t my year. The playa is always there, and I had the best time last year.
So for the rest of us whiling away in SF while the burners are at play(a), here’s my list of where you should go ASAP. These are the restaurants that usually always have a multiple hour wait or a multiple-months away reservation. This week, strut right on in there.
Mourad: Upscale Moroccan food with the best breads and spreads appetizer I’ve eaten. Their revamped cocktail menu is also great.
Leo’s Oyster Bar: It’s often packed, except for this week, where you can shuck to your heart’s content.
Liholiho Yacht Club: Finally eat here and not sit at the bar! Also, tuna belly.
Plow: Get in there for brunch. Finally.
Ichi Sushi: It’s worth the wait anyways, so now it’ll be worth even more.
Rich Table: Go buck and get the tasting menu; opportunities like these don’t come often.
Cotogna: It’s extremely difficult to walk in here without a reservation. Except for this week.
Bi-Rite: For once, the line won’t be snaking around the corner (hopefully).
Nopa: You’ll be able to nom hard without going in at 9pm on a Wednesday for dinner.
Tartine Manufactory: Come for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner. Cuz you can.
